You still have to ask Spotify for your file.

The file holds your whole past, from the first day of the account. Asking takes a minute, and the answer takes a few days.

Last.fm starts keeping whatever you play from now on.

Your request, in three steps

Tick each step as you do it. The app uses those marks to know what is still missing.

  1. Step 1 of 3Sign in to Spotify

Opens your account's privacy page. If it asks for a password, sign in.

    Open Spotify

  2. Step 2 of 3Request the right history

On that page, scroll to “Download your data”. Tick only the “Extended streaming history” box and click “Request data”.

The other two boxes do not hold the history.

  3. Step 3 of 3Confirm by email

Spotify sends an email, “Confirm your request”. Open it and click “Confirm”. Without that nothing moves, and the link expires in 14 days.

Cannot find it? Look in Promotions and Spam.

I already have the file

While your file is on its way, see the sample library

It is the app author's own library, opened as a sample. Yours takes its place when your file arrives.

The record room

Pull a record off the shelf and see how many hours you played it.

Month by month

The whole year on one line, from the fullest month to the emptiest.

The shelf

Albums as spines, from most played to least.

Hours per year

How much music in each year of your account.

The figures above are a drawing, with made-up names and numbers. The sample opens the author's whole library.
